When the blades will not engage
A blade-engagement complaint can involve the belt, PTO or engagement mechanism, safety switches, wiring on equipped machines, seized parts, or a control that is not moving through its full range.
- Belt routing and condition
- PTO or mechanical engagement parts
- Safety switches and controls
- Pulleys and spindle movement
When the belt keeps coming off
Installing another belt without finding a worn pulley, damaged guide, incorrect routing, loose mounting point, or deck-alignment problem may lead to the same failure again.
- Correct belt size and routing
- Idlers, guides, and pulley alignment
- Deck mounts and visible damage
Stop for heavy vibration or impact damage
A blade strike can damage more than the cutting edge. Strong new vibration, scraping, or unusual deck noise should be inspected before mowing continues.
